Join readers throughout the West Coast as we explore They Called Us Enemy, a graphic memoir detailing George Takei’s childhood family experiences during the WWII Japanese American Internment. (George Takei is the actor who played Mr. Sulu in the original Star Trek series). If you’ve never read a graphic novel, this is a great opportunity!
In addition to discussing this book and topic, the Library is pleased to announce a special guest: Glendora’s own “Donut Man”, Jim Nakano, will be joining us to talk about his own childhood experiences during this period. Jim is a Glendora treasure and we are very excited to have secured him as a guest!
The Library has limited complimentary copies of They Called Us Enemy. Please call or visit the Library to secure your copy!
